The decision to add clinicians to The Blue Clinic practice is a thoughtful and selective process. All our clinicians are committed to The Blue Clinic’s founding ethos of providing warm, reflective therapy that is grounded in significant clinical experience and academic training with clinical conceptualizations that include cultural identity. We specialize in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Our goal is to help you lead a more fulfilling life. I am proud to introduce you to our skilled team.
The Blue Clinic’s therapy approach is primarily psychodynamic with an emphasis on the therapist patient relationship. However, we also incorporate Cognitive Behavior therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness as indicated in treatment. These are the central modalities used in skill building classes. Please find a brief description of each approach below.
- PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY
Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the unconscious processes that dictate behavior and personality patterns. As such, emphasis is placed on early experiences, relationships, familial interactions and how these impact current relationship patterns and symptoms.
- COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on the relationships between thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and the body. It centers on learning how these facets of one’s self interact so the individual can consciously manage symptoms.
Mindfulnessaddresses one’s capacity for awareness in the present moment while allowing emotions to come and go free of judgement.
Behavioralism techniques work on changing behavior patterns that are associated to specific stimuli to bring about changes in targeted behaviors.
